CAIRO – The Egyptian Red Crescent announced the launch of the 66th “Zad Al-Ezzah… From Egypt to Gaza” convoy on Wednesday morning, which carries a number of trucks loaded with urgent humanitarian aid bound for the Gaza Strip.
This comes as part of its ongoing efforts as the national mechanism for coordinating aid to Gaza.
On its 66th day, the “Zad Al-Ezzah” convoy carried tons of urgent humanitarian supplies, including more than 250,000 food baskets, over 1,000 tons of flour, more than 2,200 tons of essential medical and relief materials needed by the Strip, and about 1,200 tons of petroleum products, as part of Egypt’s efforts to provide food and relief support to the people of Gaza.
The convoy, launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent, began on July 27, carrying thousands of tons of aid, including food supply chains, flour, infant formula, medical supplies, medicines, personal care items, and tons of fuel.
The Egyptian Red Crescent, as the national mechanism for coordinating and dispatching aid to Gaza, has been present at the border since the beginning of the crisis.
The Rafah crossing has never been completely closed from the Egyptian side, and the organization has remained on alert in all logistical centers, continuing its efforts to deliver aid – which has now exceeded half a million tons of humanitarian and relief supplies with the participation of 35,000 volunteers from the organization.
