CAIRO – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is a historic event for the world, describing it as a global gift from Egypt to all humanity.

Speaking at a press conference at the museum ahead of the ceremony, Madbouli stated that the Grand Egyptian Museum represents a landmark that reflects Egypt’s 7,000-year-old history and its role as a cradle of civilization.

He added that the event celebrates Egypt’s cultural legacy and its lasting contribution to human heritage.

Madbouly expressed his gratitude and pride for the exceptional and historic opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), describing the landmark event as “truly one of a kind in every sense.”

Madbouli was quoted by the Cabinet’s Media Center while addressing a press conference held at the Grand Egyptian Museum ahead of the grand opening ceremony, in the presence of all partners who contributed to the success of the event.

“This dream has long lived in our mind and imagination,” Madbouli said.

“We used to wonder whether we would ever see it become reality, to witness the opening of this monumental edifice as a gift from Egypt, a nation with a history of more than 7,000 years, to the entire world.”

“Egypt is a country that embodies a blend of all the civilizations that have shaped human history, and that is why today is a day of immense pride and honor for me as a premier.”

He recalled the long journey of the museum’s creation, saying: “Let us remember, as we witness the inauguration of this great monument today, that the idea of establishing it dates back about 30 years.”

“The Egyptian state began preparatory steps at that time through a series of technical studies, followed by an international competition to select the museum’s design. Implementation then began, but the project was interrupted due to the circumstances Egypt faced starting in 2011.”

“It was only after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to complete the project in the best possible form that work resumed in full force, to present to the world the true cultural face of Egypt.”

During his speech, the prime minister extended heartfelt thanks to members of the national private sector who contributed to organizing the inauguration ceremony, he mentioned their names in recognition of their support and collaboration.
