Magdy Ishaq, Chairman and CEO of Cairo Airport Company, congratulated all employees on Cairo International Airport’s win of the Hub Leadership Award in Sustainability for Africa 2024 from Airports Council International (ACI) – Africa Region.
He praised their outstanding efforts in environmental protection, the application of environmental management systems, and the implementation of effective initiatives to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the strategy of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation.
He emphasised that these efforts contribute to enhancing the ranking of Egyptian airports both in Africa and globally.
The award was announced on the sidelines of the 34th Annual General Assembly and the 74th Board of Directors Meeting of ACI Africa, held in Lusaka, Zambia, under the theme “Empowering African Airports for Strategic Growth.” Ishaq affirmed that this recognition reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable development and the application of global best practices in sustainability. It also strengthens Cairo Airport’s position as a key hub on both the African and international aviation map.
He extended his thanks and appreciation to all employees for their dedicated efforts that uphold Egypt’s name and leading status. Egyptian airports have recently achieved a major international milestone, with Cairo and Hurghada airports winning Environment and Sustainability Awards for 2024 from ACI Africa, while Borg El Arab (Alexandria) Airport was also honoured.
This comes within the framework of the strategic plan of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation for sustainable development and environmental protection, as well as its efforts to enhance operational efficiency and apply global best practices across Egyptian airports.
Engineer Ayman Arab, Chairman and Executive CEO of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, stated that this recognition highlights the continuous efforts of Egyptian airports to integrate sustainability principles into all operational processes.
He noted that environmental preservation represents a cornerstone of the company’s strategy, through improving energy efficiency, waste management, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting environmental awareness among employees and passengers.
