Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie said Wednesday that navigation in the canal is regular in both directions and has not been affected by the sinking of the drill ship ADMARINE12 in Egypt’s Gabal el Zeit area,130 nautical miles away from the southern entrance of the Suez Canal in the Red Sea.
In a press release, Rabie noted that the Authority’s crisis and disaster management center is closely following up the developments of the incident.
He also affirmed the Authority’s readiness to cooperate with the parties concerned to provide necessary assistance if required, as part of the state’s efforts to achieve integrated central crisis management.
Rabie highlighted the Authority’s comprehensive system equipped with skilled navigation experts and specialized marine units for rescue, navigation security, and pollution control.
On Wednesday, 33 ships carrying 1.4 tons transited the Suez Canal in both directions.
