Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty briefed on Thursday European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on the tireless efforts exerted by Egypt to achieve regional security and stability in the region amid growing challenges.

The top diplomat made the remarks during a phone contact with the EU official that tackled the serious developments in the Middle east and ways of ending the current military escalation between Iran and Israel.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf said Abdelatty expounded Egyptian endeavors to de-escalate the situation and return to negotiations as the only way to reach a sustainable agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

He also reviewed efforts exerted by Egypt in cooperation with Qatar and the US to reach ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure access to humanitarian assistance, hoping that the EU will continue offering needed humanitarian support to address the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the coastal enclave.

The top diplomat stressed the need for finding a political horizon to resolve the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution, describing it as the only path to lasting regional stability.

The spokesman added that Abdelatty welcomed the European Parliament’s final approval of the second tranche of EU financial support for Egypt, praising Kallas and the European External Action Service for their role in reinforcing the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Egypt and the EU.

He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to developing cooperation with the EU under the strategic partnership framework.
