Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that peaceful solutions remain the only path to achieving lasting security and stability in the Middle East, during a phone conversation on Sunday with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.

According to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy, the two leaders discussed recent regional developments, with President Sisi reiterating Egypt’s firm rejection of any further escalation or expansion of conflict in the region. He warned that the continuation of military operations—particularly by Israel across multiple regional fronts—would have grave consequences for all peoples without exception.

President Sisi underscored the urgent need for the international community to take a more active role in encouraging all parties to shoulder their responsibilities. He reaffirmed that diplomacy and dialogue must be prioritized over confrontation.

In this context, President Sisi called for a resumption of U.S.-Iran negotiations, preferably under the auspices of Oman, describing this approach as the most effective route to de-escalating current tensions. He also reiterated Egypt’s long-standing call for the establishment of a Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction—an initiative he stressed must include all countries in the region.

The Egyptian president further highlighted that a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue is essential for sustainable peace. He called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and detainees, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Ensuring security for all regional populations, he stated, is the foundation for long-term peace.
