CAIRO- Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli took part in the inaugural session of US-Egypt Policy Leaders Forum.
The session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el Mashat, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi.
Head of the American Chamber of Commerce Tarek Tawfiq and President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Suzanne Clark addressed the session.
Clark praised the strategic and historic partnership between Egypt and the US, noting that this year marks 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
She said the forum aims at exploring ways to further strengthen trade and investment ties.
She reiterated the US Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to supporting Egyptian-US economic relations.
She expounded development of economic cooperation between the two countries since Egypt’s open-door policy under late President Anwar Sadat.
Clark said both Egypt and the US have succeeded in developing economic cooperation despite global geopolitical challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over two days, the US companies will explore available investment opportunities in the Egyptian market, especially in the domains of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, energy security (oil, gas, renewables), healthcare, supply chain enhancement, and tourism.
Also, John R. Christmann, CEO of Apache Corporation and Chair of the US-Egypt Business Council, gave a speech at the forum followed by Omar Mehanna, Chair of the Egypt-US Business Council.
