Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Dr Maya Morsi led a high-profile delegation to Germany on Wednesday to attend the World Disability Summit.
The World Disability Summit, which wraps up its activities tomorrow, is a pivotal global platform dedicated to advancing the rights, empowerment, and social integration of persons with disabilities, particularly in developing countries.
Since its establishment in 2017, the summit has fostered international collaboration to drive inclusive development and humanitarian action. This year’s event is co-hosted by the governments of Germany and Jordan, in partnership with the International Disability Alliance.
A key objective of the summit is to bridge the gap between disability inclusion and global development co-operation, ensuring that persons with special needs play a central role in policymaking. Discussions during the summit will focus on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, emphasising that its enforcement is not merely a choice but a binding international obligation.
