Egypt has taken a significant step toward enhancing airspace safety and efficiency through collaboration with Eurocontrol, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation. Captain Ehab Mohie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Air Navigation Services Company (NANSC), welcomed a high-level delegation from Eurocontrol to initiate the registration process for a new framework aimed at optimizing airspace management.
This initiative is set to enhance safety standards across Egyptian airspace, ensuring seamless air traffic flow between the Middle East and the European Union while contributing to carbon neutrality efforts. The collaboration aligns with global aviation objectives, particularly in improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Youssef, Director of the Airspace Innovation Center, along with key officials from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority and the National Air Navigation Services Company. Discussions focused on avenues for future cooperation, including the potential signing of a bilateral agreement that would enable Egypt to leverage Eurocontrol’s advanced air traffic management services.
During the discussions, Captain Ehab Mohie emphasized the strategic importance of partnering with Eurocontrol, highlighting its role in advancing airspace management and aligning Egypt with international best practices. He underscored the need for a collaborative approach to air navigation, particularly in light of increasing global competition and the growing demand for efficient aviation services.
The meeting also explored the activation of a multi-sector communication framework, aimed at enhancing coordination between various aviation stakeholders and facilitating smoother air traffic movement between the East and Europe. The discussions further included strategies to implement innovative solutions in airspace management, ensuring efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
As part of this ongoing collaboration, both parties agreed to develop a long-term vision for cooperation, focusing on the establishment of a structured and technologically advanced airspace management system. The initiative aims to integrate cutting-edge navigation solutions, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and promote sustainable aviation practices in alignment with international standards.
This partnership marks a crucial milestone in Egypt’s efforts to modernize its air traffic management system, positioning the country as a key player in regional and international aviation networks.
