Egypt’s civil aviation sector is deepening its digital transformation efforts through enhanced collaboration with SITA, a global leader in aviation technology solutions.

Civil Aviation Minister Samih El Hefny met with a SITA delegation led by Salem Bayri, the company’s regional president for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. The meeting, attended by Amani Metwally, the ministry’s permanent undersecretary, and Ayman Fawzi Arab, chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, focused on deploying cutting-edge technologies to modernise Egypt’s airports.

Discussions covered advanced digital solutions, including upgrading electronic booking systems, enhancing passenger experience through self-service technologies, using AI-driven big data analysis to improve airport efficiency as well as strengthening cybersecurity measures to protect airline and passenger data.

El Hefny emphasised that adopting digital solutions aligns with Egypt’s national strategy for digital transformation in aviation, aimed at boosting operational efficiency and delivering world-class passenger services. He highlighted the urgency of modernising airport technology to keep pace with the rapid developments in global air transport.

Salem Bayri praised the ongoing developments in Egypt’s civil aviation sector, particularly its plans to open airport management to private sector investment. He expressed SITA’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s digital transition with innovative solutions tailored to its aviation goals.
