Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Managing Director of the United Media Services company (UMS) Tarek Makhlouf, and member of the company’s board Mohamed El Saadi.

The meeting addressed the ongoing arrangements and organisational aspects pertaining to the planned celebrations of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in July 2025, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El Shenawi said.

President Sisi was briefed on the proposed concepts of how to achieve the objectives of the celebration.

The meeting also reviewed the events that are planned for the days during which the celebration will take place, in order to make optimal use of them within the framework of efforts to develop the Egyptian tourism system as a whole, highlight the contributions of the Egyptian civilisation and its central role throughout history in building the global cultural heritage, as well as doubling the number of foreign tourists visiting Egypt in line with the country’s tourism potentials, spokesperson, Al Shenawi added.

In addition, the meeting touched on the promotional plan for the GEM opening ceremony, and the ongoing coordination with the private sector to develop marketing campaigns in hotels and tourist resorts. The meeting underscored the fact that the museum represents an ideal opportunity to enjoy an integrated experience that combines the essence of ancient Egyptian history with the latest museum display technologies.

President Sisi stressed the need to exert all efforts and intensify preparations so that the event reflect Egypt’s status and history, without burdening the budget, as GEM is one of the largest cultural edifices around. The museum represents an ideal opportunity to enjoy an integrated experience that combines the essence of ancient Egyptian history with the latest museum display technologies.

The president also stressed the significance of investing the momentum associated with the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum in promoting Egypt’s tourist destinations in general.
