CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Hossam Heiba, met with an envoy of Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, and discussed ways to strengthen investment partnerships between Egypt and Sierra Leone.

The meeting touched on preparations for the upcoming Egyptian-Sierra Leone Business Forum, to be held during President Bio’s visit to Egypt later this month. The forum will highlight joint investment opportunities in key sectors such as mass transport manufacturing, food production, agricultural pest control, vaccines and pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, mining, education, and infrastructure, including roads and communication towers.

Heiba underscored GAFI’s dedication to encouraging Egyptian companies to venture into African markets. He described Sierra Leone as a promising investment partner in West Africa, complementing Egypt’s established presence in Kenya and Tanzania. He also commended Sierra Leone’s focus on developing industrial and service sectors to attract foreign investments.

During the meeting, Heiba unveiled plans for an inspection tour for Sierra Leonean delegates to explore investment opportunities in Egypt.

The Sierra Leone delegation expressed enthusiasm for Egyptian exports and sought to localise Egyptian goods production while highlighting collaboration possibilities in multiple sectors, further reinforcing the growing economic partnership between the two nations.
