President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday asserted Egypt’s keenness on co-operation with Italy’s Eni company, stressing the importance of the company’s exploration and production of oil and natural gas with the aim of achieving optimal exploitation of the country’s natural resources and the gas and energy sector.
President Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi on the sidelines of the 8th edition of Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition “EGYPES 2025”, held at Al-Manara International Conference Center in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo.
In statements, Presidential spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy said that during their meeting, Eni’s CEO reviewed results of the technology-driven energy company’s projects in Egypt in the last period.
Descalzi also briefed President Sisi on the company’s current and future plans for exploration and production of gas in Egypt.
He also asserted Eni’s keenness on strategic ties with Egypt, in light of Egypt’s crucial role as a regional hub for gas and energy trading, and within the framework of the promising opportunities in Egypt and its great and untapped potentials in this area, the spokesman added.
