CAIRO – Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov expressed his country’s readiness to meet Egypt’s needs of wheat and grains.

The minister’s remarks were made during his meeting with Egypt’s Ambassador in Astana Ibtissam Rakha Hassan.

The minister also expressed his country’s interest in shoring up cooperation with Egypt in the field of building silos and grain storage and handling projects.

During the meeting, the Egyptian diplomat stressed the importance of boosting agricultural cooperation between Egypt and Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is Egypt’s strategic partner in supplying grains, particularly wheat, which is a strategic commodity which the Egyptian government seeks to meet local consumption, she said.

This matter opens up horizons for cooperation with Kazakhstan; one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of wheat, as grain production in Astana reached 26 million metric tons in 2024, she noted.

The two sides also discussed boosting cooperation in grain storage and silo construction by taking advantage from investment incentives provided by the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).

The Egyptian diplomat said that Egypt looks forward to exchanging expertise with Kazakhstan in the agriculture domain.

The two sides discussed proposals to consolidate cooperation between the two countries, and increasing trade exchange of agro products.

The meeting falls within efforts exerted to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Kazakhstan, she said, citing a phone call held between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Murat Abugaliuly Nurtleu on January 23 in this regard.
