President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has given directives to continue the development of higher education infrastructure and expanding the implementation of digital systems and programmes.
Sisi directives to this respect came in the course of a meeting he called on Monday with Prime Minister Dr Moustafa Madbouli, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Ayman Ashour. Also present at the meeting were Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Armed Forces’ Financial Affairs Authority Lieutenant General Ahmed el-Shazly, and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ahmed el-Azazi.
The president explained that these directives aim to modernise university education and scientific research, in line with national strategies to enhance quality and align educational outcomes with labour market needs,said the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy.
He also stressed the significance of specialised institutions focusing on scientific and applied fields, particularly in technology, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and engineering.
The discussions during the meeting focused on the progress of construction projects for educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the spokesman said.
The state’s ongoing efforts to enhance the academic and research capabilities of universities and scientific institutions in Egypt were also reviewed during the meeting.
In such a scope, the president was briefed on the status of private university projects, which aim to accommodate the growing number of students pursuing higher education.
These initiatives, the president noted, align with the state’s strategy to develop university infrastructure in accordance with international standards.
The president further reviewed updates on digital transformation efforts and the automation of educational and research services. This includes the integration of technology into the learning process and the use of digital tools to improve educational content delivery and student engagement, the spokesman concluded.
