Chairman of the National Press Authority (NPA) Eng. Abdel Sadiq al-Shorbagy, on Sunday received Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Eng. Khalid Abdel Aziz, at the NPA’s premises.
Discussions touched on the pressing national media and journalism issues, and reviewed means of bolstering bilateral co-operation.
The meeting was attended by NPA’s Undersecretary Alaa Thabet, Secretary General Marwa El-Sisi, and board member Hamdy Rezk.
The two sides also discussed the importance of unifying efforts to ensure a national media that reflects the image of the Egyptian state, responsibly and consciously, and in the main time faces the challenges in the media arena, in light of the rapid changes around the globe.
In addition, they also emphasised the need to develop a joint strategic vision that is likely to help bolster the role of the media in enlightening public opinion, as well as contributing to building an informed national consciousness.
Eng. al-Shorbagy emphasised the importance of joint work to achieve national goals in the domains of press and media, noting that the NPA-SCMR co-operation is a ‘role model for institutional coordination’.
For his part, Eng. Abdel Aziz highly appreciated the NPA’s efforts in support for the Egyptian press, and stressed that joint work between the two institutions will have a positive impact on developing media content and achieving a balance between media freedom and social responsibility.
The meeting is one in a series that aim to promote integration between national media institutions, within the framework of the state’s vision to build a strong and effective media system in line with the sustainable development strategy, Egypt Vision 2030.
