President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Thursday Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdullah, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Lieutenant-General Ahmed El-Shazly and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ahmed al-Azazi.

Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed al-Shennawy said the meeting discussed the efforts of the CBE in establishing the digital infrastructure and the necessary legislative and regulatory frameworks for the financial sector. These efforts aim to achieve significant progress in financial technology and digital payments, aligning with Egypt’s national digital transformation strategy.

The spokesman added that the meeting also focused on the state’s efforts to promote financial inclusion.

President Sisi emphasised the importance of developing mechanisms and tools for financial inclusion, ensuring that all economic sectors are integrated into the development framework digitally and are covered by the services provided under the economic reform programme.

The president stressed the need to keep pace with the rapid technological developments in digital banking services, and to provide advanced and secure electronic payment services for customers that meet the highest global standards. This is aimed at enhancing sustainable development and digital transformation, and improving economic indicators.
