Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty lauded the deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and Eritrea, highlighting the historic visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Asmara in October, 2024.

Abdelatty asserted that he is looking forward to promoting bilateral cooperation and finding new opportunities for cooperation in all fields.

This came during Abdelatty’s reception on Saturday of Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh within the framework of boosting ties between Egypt and Eritrea.

During the meeting, Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s keenness on boosting partnership with Eritrea and joint work for the best interests of both countries.

He accentuated Egypt’s keenness on supporting African issues and promoting security and stability, thus contributing to African solidarity.

The meeting tackled means of enhancing cooperation between both countries in the different political, economic and trade fields, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said.

The meeting also discussed the importance of intensifying joint efforts to support security and stability in the Horn of Africa in addition to boosting coordination vis-a-vis regional issues of mutual interest, topped by the situation in Somalia and supporting the Somalian government to maintain the country’s unity and sovereignty.

The talks also tackled the security conditions in the Red Sea and their impact on countries bordering the Red Sea.

Both ministers discussed the situation in Sudan and the importance to maintain its unity and sovereignty.

The two ministers agreed to continue consultations and coordination, especially implementing joint initiatives that would promote bilateral cooperation for the best interests of both sides.
