Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Somali counterpart Ahmed Moalim Fiqi agreed to deepen bilateral relations, focusing on strategic areas including politics, trade, security, and education.

During their meeting in Cairo, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s strong support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, emphasizing adherence to international principles.

Both ministers stressed the need to accelerate the launch of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and urged international partners to provide sustained funding to aid Somalia’s fight against terrorism.

Fiqi expressed Somalia’s interest in Egypt’s active involvement in the mission, citing its military expertise and long-standing experience in combating terrorism and supporting state-building.

The ministers also discussed boosting economic ties, with a commitment to advance trade relations and prepare for the Egyptian-Somali Business Forum in Cairo.
