EgyptAir, a member of Star Alliance, has extended congratulations to Michael Rousseau, the newly appointed Chair of the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board (CEB). The airline wished Rousseau success in his new role and praised his potential to support the alliance’s strategic goals.

Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, succeeds Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, who has served as CEB Chair since December 2020.

On his appointment, Rousseau stated, “I look forward to working with the board over the next two years to continue enhancing seamless travel experiences for our customers worldwide. I encourage all alliance members to collaborate on achieving this vision for 2025 and beyond.”

In his role, Rousseau will preside over the board’s two annual meetings, act as the board’s spokesperson, and steer the strategic direction of the alliance, which comprises 25 member airlines globally.

Theo Panagiotoulias, Star Alliance CEO, welcomed Rousseau, describing him as one of the most experienced executives on the board. “I am delighted to have Michael Rousseau as our new chair and look forward to working closely with him to advance the alliance’s renewed vision. I also extend my gratitude to Scott Kirby for his guidance and support during his successful four-year term,” Panagiotoulias said.

Each of the 25 member airlines is represented on the CEB by their CEO, who collectively govern the alliance’s strategic direction. Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline network, aims to provide seamless and efficient travel experiences for passengers across its global network.
