Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reviewed yesterday work progress made in the Dabaa nuclear project carried out by Rosatom Company in co-operation with Egyptian companies and thousands of Egyptian workers.

This review came during a meeting Madbouli held with Alexey Likhachev, the Director General of Russia’s Rosatom Company, and his accompanying delegation.Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk and Head of the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA), Amgad el-Wakil attended the meeting.

During the meeting, attended by Russian Ambassador in Cairo Georgy Borisenko, the prime minister welcomed the Russian delegation and stressed the importance of carrying out the project to produce clear energy coping with the Egyptian government’s plan to increase the clean energy production to 42 per cent by 2030.

He pointed out to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to carry out the first phase of the project without delay. Madbouli said that the project represents a strategic goal for the Egyptian government.

For his part, Likhachev said that President Vladimir Putin is keen on carrying out the Dabaa nuclear project and that the company is interested in implementing it without delay. He highlighted the commitment to completing it on schedule according to the highest international standards.Both sides agreed on the importance of close coordination to accelerate implementation and meet Egypt’s Vision 2030 energy and sustainable development goals.The Dabaa nuclear plant, a key part of Egypt’s energy security and economic growth strategy, will help meet rising electricity demand, create jobs, and reduce carbon emissions.

The project also highlights the strong partnership between Egypt and Russia, underscoring their collaboration in peaceful nuclear energy for electricity generation.Minister of Electricity Esmat has reiterated the government’s support for the project, noting its role in diversifying Egypt’s energy sources and advancing clean energy solutions.

Both sides pledged to continue regular meetings to monitor progress and ensure that the project is on track.
