CAIRO – The African Union (AU) appreciates the role of all partners in supporting Africa, said head of the Sustainable Environment at the AU Jihan Al Ghazawi.
During the inaugural session of the seventh edition of Cairo Water Week and the Ninth African Water Week, she said the role of the partners is very important in the face of drought and floods which threaten food and water security in the continent.
Gazzawi pointed out to the recommendations of World Bank, which indicated that the partners backed an African investment programme and the AU launch of an African investment platform.
The event is held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and under the theme of “Water and Climate: Building Resilient Communities”.
It is attended by the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, President of the World Water Council Loïc Fauchon and Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt Christian Berger, along with senior officials and ministers.
