CAIRO — Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty had a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan to discuss the conditions in Lebanon and Israel’s escalation in the region.

In statements on Friday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said that the two top diplomats denounced the Israeli aggression against Lebanon that left hundreds of casualties.

They also expressed their countries’ full solidarity with Lebanon and its people in the current crisis, said the spokesman.

They underlined the importance of providing all humanitarian support to the Lebanese people, stressing the necessity of enabling the Lebanese state, with all its institutions, to undertake its duties and exercise its full sovereignty over all its lands.

During their phone call, the two ministers expressed their categorical rejection of any measures that threaten Lebanon’s safety and territorial integrity.

They also warned against further escalation and its grave danger on the peoples in the region, calling for implementing UN Security Council resolution 1701.

They also urged the international community, including the UNSC, to shoulder its responsibilities and establish an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

They stressed that Egypt and Saudi Arabia will continue coordination to deal with the dangers that the Arab region is going through due to the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
