President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed Thursday Egypt’s support for Mauritania’s current chairmanship of the African Union, in a manner that achieves stability and development goals of the continent’s peoples.
This came during a phone call between President Sisi and his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement.
Both leaders emphasized their commitment to advancing cooperation and boosting bilateral relations in various fields, in line with the close ties between the two brotherly peoples and their shared aspirations and interests.
They also discussed regional developments, such as the situation in the Middle East, and various issues, including ongoing efforts to support an intra-Libyan solution.
The two presidents expressed their keenness to maintain Libya’s unity and sovereignty and restore security and stability in the country.
