Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi asserted the state is paying a greater attention to supporting athletes with disabilities and providing an integrated sports environment to enable them to make achievements.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports acted to upgrade the sports infrastructure as per the highest global criteria to enable disabled athletes to compete at the highest levels, said Sobhi.

The minister was attending an event to back the Egyptian mission that is participating in the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 and his meeting with Andrew Parsons, the President of the IPC on Saturday.

Sobhi said he is appreciating efforts exerted by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to support Paralympic Games worldwide and commended fruitful cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting discussed ways of developing sports facilities to meet needs of Paralympic athletes and the latest developments of international championships.

It also probed the establishment of a center of IPC for Africa in Cairo.
