Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mohamed Ismail Khaled said Egypt’s restoration of Egyptian artifacts from Netherlands is an unprecedented achievement in Egyptian-Dutch ties, especially in combating illegal trafficking of monuments and cultural property.
The Egyptian embassy in The Hague received the artifacts which included part of a colorful casket believed to be dating back to the 26th or 27th dynasty and a head of an unknown mummy believed to be dating back to Hellenistic era, he noted.
Investigations were launched in this respect by the Dutch authorities in collaboration with Egypt, he said.
He noted that Egypt managed to restore over 30,000 artifacts from 2014 until now.
