CAIRO – Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad asserted her ministry has been keen on boosting investment chances in the new government’s programme.
Concerning the environmental file, the programme calls for promoting the empowerment of the private sector and the participation of civil society, in addition to supporting societal participation to exchange viewpoints and ideas about all environmental issues, she went on to say.
The minister said efforts will focus on increasing awareness and training programmes for students of schools and universities.
She underscored the importance of the participation of MPs in mechanisms for implementing the programme through the exchange of ideas and viewpoints.
Fouad’s remarks came while receiving members of the Senate’s Energy, Environment and Manpower Committee to discuss ways of joint co-operation in a number of important environmental files in the Environment Ministry’s HQ in the government district in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on Monday.
Fouad thanked members of the committee for co-operation and communication in different environmental issues.
The lawmakers hailed successes made in the environmental file locally and internationally regarding several pressing files, including climate change and waste management.
In conclusion, Fouad emphasised the Egyptian government is paying a greater interest to environmental issues and exerts painstaking efforts to conserve the environment despite various challenges.
