Sisi to CIA director: Egypt rejects continuation of military operations in Gaza

This statement was made during President Sisi’s meeting on Tuesday with CIA Director William Burns and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of General Intelligence Director Abbas Kamel, to discuss regional developments and the latest efforts to reach truce and a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

President Sisi stressed the necessity of taking serious and effective steps to prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region, highlighting the importance of implementing the two-state solution as part of a fair and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue.

The official spokesperson for the Presidency mentioned that the CIA Director conveyed, at the beginning of the meeting, President Joe Biden’s greetings to President Sisi, and the United States’ appreciation for the strategic partnership between the two countries. President Sisi valued this, confirming the continuation of consultations and coordination between the two nations for the sake of regional and international security and stability.

For his part, the CIA Director appreciated Egypt’s efforts to enforce the ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid, affirming his country’s regard for Egypt’s wise and responsible stances that strongly contribute to establishing peace, security, and development, both regionally and internationally.
