BANGKOK – Visiting Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr Ahmed el-Tayyeb has stressed keenness on meeting needs of Muslim communities around the world.
Tayyeb said, Al-Azhar, Egypt’s prestigious religious institution, acts to provide scholarships and training courses for imams and preachers.
He was speaking during a meeting with ambassadors of Muslim and Arab countries to Thailand.
Tayyeb said embassies play an important role in promoting Arab and Muslim files, atop of which the Palestinian cause.
He said he is well aware of the consequences of wars and conflicts, including economic challenges and infrastructure problems.
The ambassadors said they are happy to meet with the grand imam and voiced appreciation for his efforts to promote co-existence and the correct image of Islam.
