CAIRO – The Food Export Council (FEC) said Sunday that the food industry sector’s exports to Iraq increased by 32 percent in 2023 to reach 175 million dollars up from 133 million dollars in the previous year, 2022.
The FEC, in a statement, said that Iraq ranked 9th among key importers of Egyptian foodstuffs during the year 2023.
The FEC, in cooperation with the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) which represent the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has dispatched a promotional mission to Iraq between May 25th – June 1st, in coordination with Iraq’s Cabinet, the statement added.
The mission falls within the framework of directives to seek new markets for Egyptian food exports, in line with the promotional plan to magnify export returns of the processed food sector that accounts for 14 percent of Egypt’s non-oil exports.
