The Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) has achieved the 106th rank globally, and ranked first in Egypt, according to the Times Higher Education’s Young University Rankings for 2024.

E-JUST was evaluated alongside universities established 50 years ago or less, making this ranking a significant achievement for the university, especially considering its establishment just 14 years ago.

With this ranking, the university secured the third position in Africa and the sixth in the Arab universities.

E-Just President Amr Adly emphasised that the university’s top ranking in Egypt is the result of “substantial support from both the Egyptian and Japanese governments, as well as the university’s board of trustees and the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA)’.

Additionally, the university’s outstanding research efforts, collaboration with prestigious Japanese universities, highly qualified faculty, exceptional administrative staff, and partnerships with industrial entities and distinguished students have contributed to this success.

E-Just is a research university with an ambition to cultivate an academic environment and become a benchmark for the Egyptian and African countries in education.

It was first established as a bilateral agreement project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments in May 2009 and later in 2010 it was ready to accept its first batch of students and make the dream a reality.

Among E-Just objectives are implementing a state-of-the-art educational system based on Japanese academic concepts and relying on a laboratory-based, project-based and problem-based learning system, in addition to introducing modern and advanced interdisciplinary academic programs, and establishing centres of excellence for basic and applied research related to communities, industries and the environment.
