CAIRO – The Egyptian commercial office in Ottawa has succeeded in lifting a ban imposed on fresh Egyptian strawberry exports to Canada, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir announced.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has announced its initial approval to importing Egyptian strawberries on the condition that the Canadian importers receive a relevant permit before completing the import process, besides ensuring that a number of agricultural quarantine procedures are applied to shipments of strawberries to be imported from Egypt, the minister added.
A report by the Egyptian commercial office in Ottawa said the strawberry shipments imported from Egypt shall be subject to a trial period as a standard requirement for fresh strawberries coming to Canada.
