Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas reiterated their outright rejection to any attempts aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause or displacing Palestinians from their lands in any way.

Sisi and Abbas made the remarks during their meeting on Monday at the Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, said Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi.

The spokesman added the two leaders held an expanded session of talks on the current situation in the Palestinian territories.

In this regard, Abbas briefed Sisi on the latest updates of the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip and its catastrophic humanitarian consequences, as well as the situation in the West Bank.

On his part, President Sisi reviewed the intensive efforts and ongoing contacts made by Egypt with various parties to reach a ceasefire and allow an immediate and sufficient access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to end the suffering of civilians in the enclave.

The two sides underlined the necessity of taking all measures to support the pivotal role assumed by the Palestinian National Authority.

The two presidents emphasized the Palestinian cause today is at a crossroads, which requires the international community and influential powers to shoulder their historical, political and humanitarian responsibility to achieve a fair and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in away that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abbas highly valued Egypt’s supportive role of the Palestinian issue, saying the country is exerting great and persistent efforts, at all levels, to stop the bloodshed of the Palestinian people and back their endeavors to obtain their legitimate rights.
