BRUSSELS – The Egyptian Ambassador in Brussels, the Duchy of Luxemburg, the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) has said that Egypt flatly rejects the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
Addressing the International Conference on a Global Alliance to counter migrant smuggling in Brussels, Badr Abdel Aati described the forced transfer of Palestinians as a red line that cannot be crossed.
He said that Egypt adopted a comprehensive approach to deal with illegal migration, pointing out the adopted approach is not restricted to security dimensions but rather extends to economic and social ones.
Abdel Aati said that Egypt is hosting nearly nine million refugees and provides basic needs to them, adding thousands of Sudanese refugees entered Egypt following the eruption of the Sudanese crisis.
For her part, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stressed the importance of cooperation among countries to fight illegal immigration.
