Egypt welcomed on Thursday UN Security Resolution No 2712 as a first and important step towards reaching a full ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry underlined the importance of putting into effect the resolution especially as regards reaching an urgent and extended humanitarian pause and securing corridors to guarantee the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.
The resolution called on all parties to refrain from depriving the civilian population in Gaza of basic services and aid indispensable to their survival, consistent with international humanitarian law.
Egypt underlined the importance that the international community would shoulder its responsibility and put into effect the resolution to preserve the credibility of the Security Council as well as international peace and security.
