Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday discussed in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
During the phone conversation, President Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate the situation in the besieged enclave and the country’s endeavors to deliver relief aid and evacuate foreigners and injured Palestinians, said Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
The two leaders agreed to intensify international efforts for reaching an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and allowing urgent access to humanitarian aid, as well as taking the necessary steps to protect civilians and stop bloodshed, in preparation for launching a political path aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, on the basis of the two-state solution.
The spokesman noted that the pair probed ways of fostering bilateral cooperation in a number of fields.
