EgyptAir, Egypt’s national carrier, made a strong showing at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, the world’s second-largest travel trade show.

The airline held a number of meetings with travel agents, tour operators, and airport representatives from around the world to discuss ways to co-operate and promote Egypt as a tourist destination.

EgyptAir also signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU) at the show. One MoU was with Bel Air India, a luxury travel company, to promote Egypt to Indian travellers. The other MoU was with Flight Catchers, a London-based travel agency, to sell EgyptAir tickets and promote the airline to British travellers.

In addition, EgyptAir launched a promotional campaign on London taxis, featuring the airline’s logo and branding.

“WTM is a great opportunity for the tourism and aviation industries,” said Yahya Zakaria, chairman and CEO of the Egyptian Holding Company for Air Transport (EHCA). “EgyptAir is committed to working with our partners to promote Egypt as a top tourist destination.”

EgyptAir’s participation at WTM was led by Zakaria, as well as Mohamed Mostafa, CEO of EgyptAir Airlines; Amr Awad, head of commercial affairs for EgyptAir Airlines; Ashraf Rateb, head of tourism for EgyptAir Airlines; and Engy Nabil, manager of EgyptAir’s London office.

The airline’s strong showing at WTM is a sign of its commitment to growing its tourism business. EgyptAir is hoping to increase its share of the global tourism market by leveraging Egypt’s position as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.
