South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda on Sunday inspected preparations at Sharm el-Sheikh, which will host the 9th Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption (UNODC).
The biennial conference starts today at the Sharm International Convention Centre (SHICC) for five days, under auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and delegations of 160 countries are attending this event.
Fouda inspected the SHICC and the landscaping and maintenance work on Al-Salam Road, and all the city squares.
All state sectors have been put on alert for the event, particularly health, electricity, water and sanitation. An operations room has been set up and is connected to the SHICC and city council, Fouda said.
Participants will look into of means curbing and preventing corruption, and boosting international co-operation for better anti-corruption measures.
Other topics on the agenda are prevention of corruption through education, women’s role in promoting integrity, and the initiative to recover stolen fund and assets.
