The New National Museum in Monaco plans to hold an exhibition of works of the Egyptian Surrealist Movement, in the light of an agreement with the Plastic Arts Section of the Ministry of Culture in this regard.

The works would be exhibited at the museum for a specific period, according to the agreement.

Minister of Culture Enas Abdel Dayem said on Sunday that the agreement comes within the framework of her ministry’s plans to maximise benefits from Egypt’s artistic wealth.

She described the agreement as a new ‘victory’ for the Egyptian soft power.

“It will open the door for displaying the works of Egyptian artists in Europe,” the minister said of the agreement.

She added that the selected collection highlights Egypt’s unique identity and reflects the pioneering role its civilisation played over the years.

The agreement, the minister said, is a first step on a long road of cultural and artistic co-operation with France.

The agreement was the latest in a series of activities by the Ministry of Culture to enhance cultural and artistic co-operation with other nations.

Meanwhile, Minister Abdel Dayem has recently met in Tunis her Tunisian counterpart, Hayet Ktat Guermazi, to discuss co-operation.

She praised the cultural and artistic movement in Tunisia, noting that as an event, the Egyptian-Tunisian Cultural Year receives support from the political leadership in both Egypt and Tunisia.

The Tunisian minister, for her part, said that the Egyptian culture is strongly present in the Tunisian cultural scene due to its richness in distinguished potentials.
