‘Just, all-out solution to Palestinian cause sole way out of current crisis’

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have commended the distinguished character of relations between the two countries and emphasised mutual aspiration for intensifying co-operation especially in the areas of economic, trade and joint investment activities.

Emphasis on intensifying co-operation between the two countries was expressed during President Sisi’s meeting with the visiting Malaysian PM at the Itihadiya Palace on Monday, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

The two leaders, he added, agreed to give a strong impetus to various frameworks of joint co-operation in the coming period. Special reference was made in this context to the areas of industry, telecommunications and information technology, in addition to infrastructure and food security.

During their meeting, President Sisi and the Malaysian prime minister exchanged views on key regional and international issues of common interest, including the issue of combating terrorism, Spokesman Fahmy said.
In this connection, The Malaysian prime minister valued the efforts made by Egypt in this regard, as the beacon of the Islamic world, especially through the role of Al-Azhar.

The developments of the situation in the region were also discussed, especially in light of the ongoing military escalation in the Gaza Strip.

President Sisi reviewed, in this context, the results that emerged from discussions during the Cairo Summit for Peace, Spokesman Fahmy said, adding that the Egyptian leader and the Malaysian prime minister agreed on the need to coordinate efforts to stop the escalation and achieve calm, as well as providing the necessary protection for Palestinian civilians.

The two sides further stressed the need to continue providing safe and urgent access of humanitarian assistance to the people of the Strip. The Malaysian prime minister paid tribute to the intensive efforts made by Egypt in this regard, Spokesman Fahmy said.

The two leaders expressed concern over the danger of the spread of violence to the region. They also stressed utter rejection of the liquidation of the Palestinian cause through the idea of forced displacement of the people of Gaza, the spokesman said.

They also asserted that the only way out of the dire situation is for the international community to work together to find the just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause on the basis of a two-state solution in accordance with the references of international legitimacy, in a way that preserves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
