A French Foreign Ministry source unveiled on Saturday his country’s plan to send a special flight carrying urgent humanitarian assistance, especially medicines, to the Palestinians, saying his country is closely following up Egypt’s efforts to open Rafah border terminal.
Speaking on the sidelines of Cairo Peace Summit called for by Egypt at the New Administrative Capital, the source referred to the 10 million euros announced by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna last week to help Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The sum includes 4 million euros to the UNRWA to support food and water supplies in the Gaza Strip, he said, adding that the sum will bring to 8 million euros funds allocated to the UN agency by France in 2023 for the Palestinians.
The additional assistance will also include 2 million euros to the World Food Program, one million euro to the International Committee of the Red Cross and three million euros to the Crisis Center for non-governmental humanitarian organizations operating in the Palestinian territories.
The source said France allocated 95 million euros in 2022 to the Palestinians, 20 percent of them were channeled to Gaza.
