The 8th World Fatwa Conference starts tomorrow at the Egyptian Fatwa House under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the World, under the title: ‘Fatwa and the Challenges of the Third Millennium’. The conference brings together scholars, ministers and muftis from one hundred countries.
Dr. Ibrahim Najm, Advisor to the Mufti of the Republic, Secretary General of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the World said that the conference will witness many important events over the course of two days, including a screening of a documentary about the General Secretariat of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the world, the objectives of the conference and the challenges facing the fatwa in the third millennium.
He added that the speech by the Prime Minister will be delivered by Dr. Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Endowments, while the speech of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif will be delivered by Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and the speech of the Egyptian Church will be delivered by His Eminence Bishop Jeremiah.
There will also be a speech by Judge of Palestine and Advisor to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs.
Najm noted that the conference enjoys large international participation, as the United Nations and the European Commission .
The official explained that the following aspects will be discussed: the challenges of the third millennium, defining areas and building methods of confrontation, intellectual and moral challenges, followed by the economic challenges and the challenges of cyberspace.
