Sphinx Avenue receives visitors after opening, Luxor sees tourism boom

The ancient Avenue of Sphinxes (Kebash Road) received since early Friday morning thousands of tourists and Egyptians who were keen to visit it after Thursday's international inauguration ceremony held in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

LUXOR, Egypt – The ancient Avenue of Sphinxes (Kebash Road) received since early Friday morning thousands of tourists and Egyptians who were keen to visit it after Thursday’s international inauguration ceremony held in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

 

The tourists said they are astonished by the monuments of the temple, expressing their great admiration for Thursday’s international event.

Trade stores and bazaars of the nearby market opened at 10 am for the visiting tourists and Egyptians with the merchants expressing their happiness at such a tourism boom that the city is witnessing, which they said is expected to be doubled mainly after Thursday’s ceremony.

Reporters of foreign media outlets were seen in the city’s streets to continue the coverage of the event which started Thursday in conjunction with the Sphinx Avenue ceremony.

More than 200 foreign corresponds were invited to cover the international opening of the Sphinx Avenue.

 

Head of Luxor’s city council, Tarek Lotfy has earlier said, according to MENA, that the city’s hotels are fully booked for the coming one and a half months for the first time in ten years.
