Egyptian Premier League round-up: Wins for Ahly, Zamalek as Pyramids held

Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Ceramica Cleopatra, Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, Pharco FC and Future FC claimed victories in the 4th week of the 2021-22 Egyptian Premier League season.

At Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo, Al-Ahly maintained their winning start to the season as the Red Devils defeated Arab Contractors 1-0. Midfielder Hamdy Fathi scored the decisive goal in the 67th minutes.

The result cemented Al-Ahly on top of the domestic league with 12 points from 4 matches as Arab Contractors remained at 11th place with 4 points from 4 matches.

At Ismailia Stadium, Zamalek got back to winning ways with an important 2-0 victory over Ismaili Friday night.

Zamalek’s goals came from right-winger Ahmed Sayed Zizo from the penalty spot in the 84th minutes as striker Omar el-Said added the second in the stoppage-time.

The victory lifts Zamalek to 3rd place with 9 points from 4 matches as Ismaili remained winless this season at 18th place from4 matches.

Earlier in the day, Pyramids FC and Al-Masry of Port Said had to settle for a point each at Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria after a pulsating 2-2 draw.

Striker Ibrahim Adel opened the scoring for Pyramids in the 19th minutes then Moroccan attacking midfielder Walid el-Karti added the second in the 39th minutes.

Al-Masry’s goals came from left-back Hassan Ali from the penalty spot in the 52nd minutes as striker Amr Marei grabbed the equaliser in the 88th minutes.

The draw pushed Pyramids to climb up to 2nd place with 10 points from 4 matches while Al-Masry of Port Said remained at 10th place with 4 points from 4 matches.

At Petrosport Stadium in Cairo, Enppi held Smouha to a 1-1 draw. The petroleum side goal came from left-winger Moustafa Shalabi in the 39th minutes as Smouha’s striker Marwan Hamdi equalized in the 34th minutes.

The result kept Enppi in 14th place with 4 points from 4 matches as Smouha remained at 8th place with 6 points from 4 matches.

Elsewhere, Talae el-Geish held to a goalless draw against Ghazl el-Mahalla at the Military Sports Stadium in Cairo.

The result pushed Ghazl el-Mahalla to 4th place with 8 points from 4 matches as El-Geish dropped to 16th place with 2 points from 4 matches

Ceramica Cleopatra, meanwhile, defeated National Bank of Egypt (NBE) 1-0 at Arab Contractors Stadium.

The match sole goal came from playmaker Mohamed Ibrahim in the 37th minutes.

The win lifts Ceramica Cleopatra to 5th place with 8 points from 4 matches as National Bank of Egypt remained at 9th place with 6 points from 4 matches.

At Alexandria Stadium, Al-Ittihad of Alexandria clinched a 1-0 victory over El-Gouna. Striker Khaled el-Ghandour scored for his side in the 65th minutes.

The victory pushed Al-Ittihad to 7th place with 7 points from 4 matches as El-Gouna dropped to 13th place with 4 points from 4 matches.

At Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, newcomer Pharco FC stunned Mise el-Maqassa 2-0.

Pharco’s goals came from defender Abdallah Bakry in the 4th minutes as striker Amr Gamal added the second in the 79th minutes.

It was Pharco’s first win after three consecutive winless matches in the league, including three losses. The victory left the club in the 15th place with 3 points.

Mise el-Maqassa dropped into 12th place with 4 points from 4 matches.

Elsewhere, newcomer Future FC thrashed Eastern Company 4-1 at Petrosport Stadium in Cairo.

Right-winger Omar Kamal opened the scoring in the 5th minutes as Future’s central midfielder Ghanam Mohamed scored the second in the 16th minutes and striker Marwan Mohsen added the third in the 22nd minutes.

Left-winger Ahmed Refaat scored the fourth for his side in the 90+2 minutes.

Eastern Company’s sole goal came from right winger Mohamed Hassan in the 80th minutes.

The result left Future FC to 6th place with 7 points from 4 matches as Eastern Company remained winless this season at the 17th place from 4 matches.
