CAIRO – Duchess of Cornwall, the wife of Prince Charles of Wales, on Thursday visited Cairo’s Ezbet Khairallah neighbourhood to inspect a British Council-sponsored community initiative aiming to promote the lives of the poorest families in the area.
The British Council in Egypt has been sponsoring several community initiatives for several years to empower women and the youth.
The royal was welcomed by a number of children living in the neighbourhood.
During her tour, the Duchess of Cornwall was briefed about the success stories of the female breadwinners and experiments of the youth in the neighbourhood.
She was also posted of the youth’s efforts to encourage environmental protection via recycling, manufacturing environment-friendly bags and rooftop gardening to reduce the climate change impacts, as part of the Climate Connection programme implemented by the British Council worldwide.
