“Agility and adaptability are keys to surviving in an ever-changing economy,” Minister of International Co-operation Dr Rania el-Mashat said Tuesday.
“At the end of 2020 many countries enjoyed the fruits of solidarity, multilateralism and cooperation,” she added.
“We have been given a wake-up call to connect, communicate and collaborate with each other.”
These comments came in a webinar ‘Agile Governance in a Creative Economy 4.0’, organised by the American University in Cairo in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Agility and adaptability are keys to surviving in an ever-changing economy, and the four elements of agile governance are an aligned vision, clear expectations, transparency and communicating the message clearly, and a matrix for implementation, el-Mashat said.
In 2020, the ministry secured $9.8 billion in development financing, of which $3.2 billion went to the private sector.
“Despite the pandemic, Egypt’s development efforts were not derailed. Rather, it is through agility, governance and creativity that such efforts have pushed ahead,” she said
According to a report ‘Regional Economic Prospects’, published by the EBRD’s in September 2020, Egypt’s economy is on track at to rebound to a 5 percent growth in 2021.
The IMF also forecast in the October issue of the World Economic Outlook, an increase in the growth rate of the Egyptian economy to 3.5 percent.
“Through economic diplomacy Egypt is moving towards an inclusive and sustainable future,” elkl-Mashat said.
Regarding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) mapping, more than 300 projects worth $25 billion are underway, she added.
