CAIRO – Deputy Director of the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies Mohamed Ibrahim said on Friday that Egypt has recently been interacting positively with national security issues in the region.
In statements to MENA, he added that these Egyptian moves confirm confidence of the international parties in the Egyptian role and its ability to settle current regional crises.
He noted that the current visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to France, to take part in an international conference on Libya, is an evidence of the depth of relations between Egypt and France.
He pointed out that bilateral relations have been improving rapidly in the various domains in the past phase.
The visit reflects the importance that France is attaching to the Egyptian role in settling the Libyan crisis as the president is taking part in the conference at an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron.
Ibrahim also highlighted recent meetings of the Libyan military committee, which have been hosted by Cairo, on the withdrawal of foreign troops from Libya.
As for the situation in Sudan, he said that Egypt has always been supporting the stability of Sudan.
Egypt is always expressing its respect of the will of the Sudanese people and is keen on not interfering in the internal affairs of any other country, he added.
Regarding the Egyptian-US Strategic Dialogue, he said that resuming the dialogue in Washington after a hiatus of six years confirmed that the two countries are keen on enhancing bilateral strategic relations and that Washington believes that Egypt is a major regional country that would contribute to achieving security and stability in the region.
