CAIRO – The Egyptian Armed Forces announced they will increase the number of Border Guards troops and boost their capabilities in the border zone in Rafah.
Military Spokesman Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafez said on Monday that the decision came after a joint military committee had succeeded in amending a security agreement with the Israeli side.
The amendment falls within the framework of an international agreement to boost security on the borders in the light of any variables or developments, the spokesman noted.
The Egyptian move comes in light of the Armed Forces’ keenness to maintain national security and control the northeastern borders. (
