Al-Ahly, Mahalla and Smouha claim wins in Egyptian Premier League

Al-Ahly, Ghazl el-Mahalla and Smouha claimed victories in the 3rd week of the 2021-22 Egyptian Premier League season as newcomer Future FC held to a 1-1 draw against Al-Masry of Port Said.

At Alexandria Stadium, Smouha thrashed newcomer Eastern Company SC 3-0.

Smouha’s goals came from striker Marwan Hamdi in the 39th and 57th minutes. Then Nigerian left-winger Sodiq Awujoola added the third in the 79th minutes.

The victory lifts Smouha to 6th place with 5 points from 3 matches as Eastern Company remained winless this season at 17th place from 3 matches.

At Ghazl el-Mahalla Stadium, Ghazl el-Mahalla beat Enppi 3-0.

Right-winger Abdo Yehia opened the scoring for El-Mahalla in the 16th minutes as Enppi winger Salah Riko scored the second by mistake in the 43rd minutes and centre-forward player Ahmed Ghoneim added the third in the 72nd minutes.

The result left Ghazl el-Mahalla to 3rd place with 7 points from 3 matches as Enppi dropped into 14th place with 3 points from 3 matches.

In the same round, Al-Masry of Port Said clinched a last-gasp 1-1 draw against Future FC at Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Striker Marwan Mohsen opened the scoring for Future FC in the 44th minutes as Al-Masry’s left-back player Hassan Ali grabbed the equalizer from a penalty spot in 77th minutes.

The draw lifts Al-Masry of Port Said to 13th place with 3 points from 3 matches as Future FC kept at 10th place with 4 point from 3 matches.

At Cairo International Stadium, Al-Ahly achieved a sensational 5-3 victory against arch-rivals Zamalek Friday night.

The Reds, who hold the record for most league titles won, 42, maintained their strong start to the domestic league after defeating Ismaili 4-0 and National Bank of Egypt 1-0 in their first two games of the competition.

Al-Ahly’s goals came from Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng in the 16th minutes. Tunisian left-winger Ali Maaloul added the second from a penalty spot in the 19th minutes.

Striker Mohamed Sherif added third in the 25th minutes as Malian midfielder Dieng added the fourth in the 53rd minutes. Finally left-winger Maaloul scored the fifth again from a penalty spot in the 65th minutes.

Zamalek’s goals came from winger Moustafa Fathi in the 51st minutes then winger Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ scored the second from a penalty spot in the 79th minutes.

Moroccan left-winger Achraf Bencharki scored the third for the defending champions in the 90th minutes.

The result pushed Al-Ahly to lead the domestic table with 9 points from 3 matches, with a goal difference from runner-up Pyramids, after bagging the maximum points from their opening three matches, as Zamalek dropped into at 5th place with 6 points from 3 matches.

In the same round, National Bank of Egypt (NBE) defeated Ismaili 1-0 at Petrosport Stadium in Cairo,.

The game sole goal came from midfielder Mohamed Hilal in the 69th minutes.

The victory lifts NBE to 4th place with 6 points from 3 matches as Ismaili remained winless this season at 18th place from 3 matches.

At El-Gouna Stadium, El-Gouna beat newcomer Pharco FC 1-0.

Left-winger Mahmoud el-Shabrawy scored his side’s goal in the 72nd minutes.

The victory pushed El-Gouna to 11th place with 4 points from 3 matches as Pharco FC remained winless this season at 16th place from 3 matches.

Elsewhere, Pyramids FC blanked Al-Ittihad of Alexandria 3-0 at the Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.

Centre-forward player Mahmoud Wadi opened the scoring for Pyramids in the 53th minutes as playmaker Abdallah el-Said added the second from a penalty spot in the 59th minutes.

Then striker Ibrahim Adel added the third in the 94th minutes.

The result left Pyramids FC to 2nd place with 9 points from 3 matches as Al-Ittihad of Alexandria remained at 12th place with 4 points from 3 matches.

At Cairo’s Military Academy Stadium, Misr el-Maqassa was held to a 0-0 draw by Ceramica Cleopatra.

The result kept Misr el-Maqassa in 8th place with 4 points from 3 matches as Ceramica Cleopatra remained at 7th place with 5 points from 3 matches.

Also, Talae el-Geish clinched a last-gasp 1-1 draw against Arab Contractors at Arab Contractors Stadium.

Arab Contractors’s goal came from defender Mohamed Samir in the 35th minutes as centre-back Ali el-Fil grabbed the equalizer from a penalty spot in the 90th minutes.

The draw lifts Arab Contractors to 9th place with 4 points from 3 matches as Talae el-Geish remained at 15th place with 1 point from 3 matches.
