On March 7, the American University in Cairo’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication will host the second edition of Egypt and Africa’s first podcasting conference, PodFest Cairo 2021.
PodFest Cairo 2021’s virtual keynote speaker is Linah Mohammad, an associate audio producer from The Washington Post “Post Reports” podcast. She will discuss the power of podcasts.
Other panelists also include Noran Morsi, host of the Egyptian Streets podcast; Heba Shunbo, host of Mommy’s Happy Hour podcast; and Tala Eissa, managing producer at Sowt.
The event will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 pm virtually via Zoom and live streamed on the PodFest Cairo Facebook page.
“The purpose of PodFest Cairo is to cultivate the podcasting community in Egypt and to grow the podcast production output in the MENA region,” Kim Fox, professor of journalism at AUC and the conference founder and organiser, said.
The participants will discuss various topics, including “The Road to a Successful Podcast” and “Telling Narratives in Arabic”.
